A Quick Update

Today’s ‘Quick Update’ is coming to you late, and rushed.

What’s up?

So I’ve been doing some thinking. I’ve been blogging every Monday and Friday consistently for the last 3 or so months. I’ve accumulated over 20 unique posts spanning 3 (and growing) categories. I want to switch things up a bit.

So what’s new?

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure. I’m still thinking that through entirely. I do know that I need to tone down the amount of posts I send out, and increase the amount of marketing I do. So far, I’ve decided that it makes more sense for me to post once a week (instead of twice) while using that remaining day to focus on marketing and getting involved in the blogging community.

Why?

I’m making this change for two main reasons:

  1. I’m getting overwhelmed. In addition to working a full time job, balancing my personal life, my relationship, adulting, and all the other stress- generating points of my life; this blog has taken a backseat.
  2. I really (REALLY) want this blog to succeed. I began it at the start of 2019 and it has, and will continue to be my personal project. Whether it be a cathartic experience for me to vent or an educational experience for my community, I need this blog to succeed. With that said, it isn’t going to grow itself. I want to thank the few people that have stopped by or commented, but I feel it’s time to put some effort into growing. I have plenty of content built up and at this point it’s only logical that I deviate SOME effort into marketing.

Makes sense, what’s the new schedule?

Right now, I think I’m going to keep Monday as the post day and Friday as the marketing day. Obviously things go on behind the scenes, but I haven’t really sat down on a scheduled day and really dug into the marketing aspect of running a blog. This new schedule will give me the freedom and flexibility to do that without feeling obligated to get a post up. I am a very routine person and my weekly schedule reflects that. Swapping up my “blogging” time on Friday with “marketing” time allows me to stay structured and focus on my top priority: creating a worthwhile blog to read and a worthwhile community to be a part of.

I hope this all makes sense. I am looking forward to this transition and I’m certain it will benefit the blog. Stay tuned and I’ll see you next Monday.
